Courts Sets Date For CNBC Appeal

CNBC’s appeal to block an auction sale of the Financial News Network will be heard by a federal appeals court no earlier than the week of May 6, according to an internal memo circulated April 24 in the offices of FNN.

CNBC filed the appeal earlier this month, seeking to overturn a federal court ruling that would force the bankruptcy judge to consider a bid from the partnership of Dow Jones and Westinghouse Broadcasting for FNN.

According to the FNN memo, time has been set aside by the appeals court to hear CNBC’s case on May 10. Should CNBC win, the company could close its purchase of FNN 11 days later.
