Joan Goldweitz, wife of former Reed Publishing USA chairman Saul Goldweitz, died Jan. 24 while on a visit in L.A.
Her husband had been with Reed subsid Cahners Publishing since firm’s inception in 1946. He was editor of its first magazine, Modern Materials Handling.
He became a Cahners v.p. and treasurer in 1949, exec v.p. in ’58, prexy in ’65 and chairman in ’85. He retired in 1989.
His wife had been ill for some time. The Goldweitzes lived in Boston and Cotuit, Mass.
As well as her husband, Goldweitz is survived by their four children, Mark, Jonathan, Elissa and Julie.
