In a bid to expand its sports and entertainment operations, Spectacor has formed Spectacor West, a Los Angeles-based branch to represent the company’s interests on the west coast, including the L.A. Coliseum Redevelopment Project and Spectacor Films.
Joseph M. Cohen, founder of the Madison Square Garden Network and co-founder of the USA Network, has been named prexy of the new concern. Cohen was a consultant to Spectacor for tv distribution and arena activities. He also serves as a director of IDB Communication Group, which purchased Hughes Television Network. Cohen served as exec v.p. and partner at Hughes when it was an affiliated entity of Spectacor from 1986 to 1989.
Spectacor’s other affiliates include Spectacor Management Group, the Philadelphia Flyers, and Ticketmaster of Delaware Valley.
