Sony Corp. is forming a new company to unite its entertainment industry holdings under one umbrella and has named Michael P. Schulhof to head it.
Sony Software Corp. is the name of the new New York-based company made up of Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment and its Columbia House direct marketing arm, as of Jan. 15.
Sony Corp. president Norio Ohga will be chairman of Sony Software. Schulhof, who replaced Ohga last month as chairman of Sony Music Entertainment, will be president.
The reorganization concentrates power in the hands of Schulhof.
