Shelley Shocked

Were you surprised that “The Field,” “The Grifters,” “Cyrano de Bergerac” and “Longtime Companion” came away with Oscar noms? Same for “Dick Tracy,” “Pretty Woman” and – in lesser doses – “Tune In Tomorrow,” “White Hunter, Black Heart” and “The Long Walk Home.” You didn’t get one from the makers of “Wild At Heart,” but you did get personal messages in the mail from supporting actress nominee Diane Ladd, followed up by personal phone calls from her old pal Shelley Winters, urging you to consider putting your Xs in Ladd’s box.
