Ludwig Entertainment Group Inc., a new motion picture production company, will be participating at the Cannes festival for the first time with a slate of four film proposals.

The firm was established by Lucas E. Devenn, most recently assistant to the president at Arama Entertainment and Dennis J. Hawk, former principal at Hawk/Hewson Entertainment.

The proposed films are: “Shanghai Gesture,” based on the 1925 play by John Colton and the 1941 Josef von Sternberg film; “Romantically Inclined,” a comedic love story about introducing an ancient way of lovemaking in the context of modern romance; “Byron,” based on the book “The Mutant King,” by David Dalton; and “Legal Tender,” based on an upcoming book by Richard Smitten, who will also pen the screenplay.

Ludwig, which has home offices in Santa Monica, will be in Suite 524 at the Hotel Majestic in Cannes.
