Hughes Stays Home

As if the New York labor impasse weren’t a big enough break for The Second City, 1990 and ’91 have also turned out to be incredibly profitable and prolific years for John Hughes – Chicago filmmaker.

“Home Alone,” which Hughes wrote and produced, is, of course, one of the most financially successful pictures of all time – and it was filmed in Chicago. Never one to rest on his laurels, the hyperactive Hughes has five more movies set for release in the next two years, and four of them include substantial lensing in Chi.
