“Make Room For Danny” is the apt title of Danny Thomas’ autobiography, just out from G.P. Putnam’s Sons. The co-author is Bill Davidson.
The same publisher has released a sequel to Raymond Chandler’s “The Big Sleep” called “Perchance To Dream” by Robert B. Parker. His first book to feature Chandler’s characters was “Poodle Springs,” published last year.
Richard Schickel, Time’s film critic, has written a new bio of Marlon Brando for Atheneum. “Brando: Portrait Of A Generation” will be in stores in April.
Grove Weidenfeld will publish “No Tricks In My Pocket: Paul Newman Directs” in May. It’s billed as a behind-the-scenes look at Newman’s filming of “The Glass Menagerie.”
Two David Rabe plays will also be issued by Grove Weidenfeld: the definitive version of “Hurlyburly” and his newest work, “Those The River Keeps.” They are scheduled for May publication.
Princeton U. Press has two profiles of filmmakers in its spring list. “The Warrior’s Cinema: The Cinema Of Akira Kurosawa” by Stephen Prince is due in February, and “The Films Of Carlos Saura: The Practice Of Seeing” by Marvin D’Lugo is set for May.
