The three-day Australian Venue Managers’ Conference & Exhibition wrapped here April 23, having attracted over 150 delegates.

Organized by the Australian Venue Managers Assn., confab drew, for the first time, about 30 trade exhibitors covering all facets of the industry. Among the attendees were reps from the U.S. and Southeast Asia.

Keynote speakers included Intl. Auditorium & Arena Managers vice-prexy (and next prexy) Dick Walsh. According to event organizers, IAAM recognition of the meet was enhanced this year. As previous meets had not focused on the trade angle, this year’s successful turnout should see a bigger push for trade exhibits to help underwrite the fledgling event.

It is hoped the conference – an informal gathering since 1984 and held convention-style in Melbourne two years ago – will be held annually from now on.
