A Toronto production of “Luv” was canceled Feb. 19 just hours after its star, Mickey Rooney, gave morning press interviews for the show – unaware of the problems.

Previews were to begin Feb. 28 at the Music Hall Theater. Rooney was to be backed by a Toronto cast with which he had been rehearsing.

Co-producer Peter Inkster blamed one of his investors, who he said had failed to come up with $C75,000 for a performance bond required by Canadian Actors’ Equity.

Rooney was said to have left the city for Los Angeles.

Equity confirmed bond had not been posted.
