‘Trek VI’ To Start Filming In Spring

“Star Trek VI,” greenlighted by Paramount as the final chapter in the film series, has been set for a spring production start, with Leonard Nimoy doubling as co-star and executive producer.

All the principal castmembers of the longrunning outer space odyssey will appear in the fadeout: Nimoy, William Shatner, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols and George Takei.

“Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry will be executive consultant. Nicholas Meyer, who directed “Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan,” will direct again from a screenplay he wrote in collaboration with Denny Martin Flynn. Steve-Charles Jaffe, executive producer of Paramount’s “Ghost,” will produce with veteran “Star Trek” producer Ralph Winter.
