Merchant Ivory Prods.’ “The Ballad Of The Sad Cafe” has been selected as an official competing entry at the Berlin Film Festival. Film will world preem there during the first week of the event, which kicks off Feb. 14.
Feature will fly the British flag at the festival. Debuting film director Simon Callow will attend. Vanessa Redgrave, Rod Steiger and Keith Carradine star in the first MIP production to compete at Berlin since “Shakespeare Wallah” in 1965.
