New Line, Vasquez In Two-film Deal

New Line Cinema has signed a two-picture deal with writer-director Joseph B. Vasquez, whose “Hangin’ With The Homeboys” premiered at last month’s Sundance Film Festival. It will be released in April by New Line.

The new deal calls for Vasquez to write and direct “Homegirls” and direct “Writing On The Wall.” “Homegirls” takes place the same night as “Hangin’ With The Homeboys.” “Writing” will be scripted by Seth Rosenfeld, adapted from his stage play about inner-city youth. George Jackson and Doug McHenry will produce. (Jackson and McHenry also are producing New Line’s “House Party 2.”)
