Dances With Wolves (Orion). Costner earned heartier $290,000 in 13th ride after about $275,000 at 49.

The Godfather, Part III (Paramount). Pacino’s slumping with about $260,000 in seventh sesh at 74 after about $355,000 at 78.

Popcorn (Studio Three). Fairly frightening $233,355 in first stint at 37 theaters.

Lionheart (U). Van Damme sliding to $177,845 in fourth play at 29 after $257,364 at 49.

Book Of Love (New Line). Teenyboppers took just $155,304 in opening round at 46 lunchrooms.

White Fang (BV). London story can’t cut it with $116,223 in third go at 34 after $181,288 at 43.

Edward Scissorhands (Fox). Dying down to $110,316 in ninth haircut at 30 after $175,575 at 43.1

Eve Of Destruction (Orion). Gregory can’t tap his way out of this one with $78,171 in third canto at 14 after $151,409 at 35.

Misery (Col). King improved to $76,112 in 10th whirl at 13 after $67,396 at 14.

Not Without My Daughter (MGM/UA). Less involving $72,627 in fourth escape at 18 after $166,193 at 46.

Flight Of The Intruder (Par). Losing altitude and screens with $68,787 in third trip at 17 after $205,616 at 66.

Queens Logic (New Line/7 Arts). New York story did moderate $60,453 in first try at three screens.

Meet The Applegates (Triton). Nobody’s interested in meeting them with $56,280 in debut at 21 homes.

The Russia House (MGM). Took in only $36,996 in seventh stay at seven after $48,564 at same.

Mermaids (Orion). Better than her tv special anyway with $44,780 in eighth song at 13 after $70,735 at 25.

Look Who’s Talking Too (Tri-Star). Nearly silenced with $17,031 in eighth crawl at six after $43,393 at 15.
