ITC Mulls U.S. Homevid Plans

As ITC Entertainment Group noisily expands its film, tv and video activities in the U.K., it is quietly weighing options for a domestic homevideo unit.

The company has hired Don Rosenberg, ex-prexy of Trans World Entertainment USA, as a consultant to help determine a strategy for exploiting ITC’s large catalog of film and tv programming on videocassette.

Sources outside the company said ITC likely will opt for an in-house homevid marketing staff and distribute through a studio or large independent.

Since much of the ITC catalog has been exploited on video at low prices, one source speculated the company also may license a slate of titles to a budget distributor.
