“Uminchu: The Old Man And The East China Sea,” a documentary filmed off Okinawa by John Junkerman, will receive the best of fest award at the 16th annual New England Film & Video Festival, running May 16 to 18.
The awards are given to features, documentaries, shorts, animation and experimental films made in New England or by New England residents. Junkerman is from Cambridge, Mass.
Among the other winners are Ross McElwee and Marilyn Levine’s “Something To Do With The Wall,” a cinema verite exploration of the Berlin Wall that recently bowed in New York. Screenings will take place at the Museum of Fine Arts and Boston U.
