“Home Alone” has retaken the box office lead by jumping 10% to $653,196. “Awakenings” remained in second place, while last week’s champ, “The Grifters, ” declined 30% to the $500,000 level. “Once Around” gained theaters and income in its third round.

In their seventh weeks, “Green Card” is still doing well at $391,577 and “Hamlet” improved to $370,061. “Alice” expanded nicely to 38 penthouses, though it remained most popular in Manhattan. “Kindergarten Cop” hasn’t given up, making more than $300,000.

Among new releases, Buena Vista’s “Run” fared best with a moderately-paced $292,227. The week’s other newcomers entered even lower on the chart. “Popcorn” from Studio Three spooked $233,355, while “Book Of Love” from New Line managed only $155,304. Near the bottom of the list were New Line/7 Arts’ “Queens Logic, ” bowing at just three screens, and Triton’s “Meet The Applegates,” bombing at 21 suburbs.

The only new exclusive is Paramount’s reissue of Bertolucci’s “1900,” which earned $17,445 at Film Forum. Last week’s “The Vanishing” upped its take to $23,988 at Cinema 12, and in its third stint “The 3rd Animation Celebration” held up with $14,014 at the Angelika. Less popular were “Men Of Respect,” a dud with $4,366 at the Carnegie, and “Too Much Sun,” sunburnt with $8,549 at the Angelika.
