Lorraine Bracco, currently on screen in “Goodfellas,” will star opposite Sean Connery in Cinergi Prods.’ “The Stand.” The romantic adventure begins lensing next month in Brazil and Central America under the direction of John McTiernan.

Script is by Tom Schulman, Oscar-winner for “Dead Poets Society.” Bracco is near completion on Richard Donner’s “Radio Flyer” and will be seen in Paramount’s February release “Talent For The Game,” directed by Robert M. Young. Cinergi topper Andy Vajna and Schulman are producing “The Stand,” with Donna Dubrow and Connery as exec producers. Pic is not related to a Laurel Entertainment project based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.
