Academy Boosts Campus Film Work

The Academy Foundation, educational and cultural arm of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, has awarded grants totaling $75,000 to 10 schools and four institutions in support of their film programs.

Committee okayed support for Bard College, California Institute of the Arts, Montana State U., Rhode Island School of Design, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, San Francisco State U., Syracuse U., U. of Iowa, U. of South Florida and U. of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.

Institutions receiving grants for other projects are the Chicago School of the Art Institute’s film center for an exhibition program of experimental films, the American Film Institute’s directing internships, the Society of Composers & Lyricists’ music composing internships and the Filmmakers Cooperative’s indie film distribution program.
