Len White has been named chairman and chief executive officer of Orion Home Entertainment Corp., effective March 1. The promotion has been expected since Larry Hilford resigned from that position last month.

White’s promotion comes amid uncertainty over Orion’s future. If the company succeeds in selling off rights to several films, it would diminish the amount of product available for the homevid pipeline.

Formerly president and chief operating officer of Orion’s video division, White joined the company in its homevid startup phase in 1987. Prior to joining Orion, White was president of the consumer products division of CBS/Fox Video from 1983 to 1987.
