A stagebound record of Paul McCartney's 1990 world tour, Get Back is heavy on nostalgia and light on visual zap. Sans intro or background, pic kicks off on stage and stays there for 90 minutes. Filming took place in England, Holland, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Japan and the US, but individual locales are not identified. Audiences and songs blend into one big stage show.

Pic reunites the former Beatle with director Richard Lester, who helmed A Hard Day’s Night and Help! There’s none of those mid-1960s pics’ groundbreaking elan here. By MTV standards, this is somewhere in a stone age. Lester mostly lets the powerful songs (half Beatles classics) speak for themselves, crosscutting between fans mouthing the lyrics and Macca & Co. on stage.
