The idea for this three-parter was hatched during Dino De Laurentiis' production of King's Firestarter, which also starred little Drew Barrymore. Asked to do another script for Barrymore, King sketched out an idea about a cat who protects a young girl from a threatening troll in her bedroom wall.

The idea for this three-parter was hatched during Dino De Laurentiis’ production of King’s Firestarter, which also starred little Drew Barrymore. Asked to do another script for Barrymore, King sketched out an idea about a cat who protects a young girl from a threatening troll in her bedroom wall.

Unfortunately, that idea got tacked onto two other King short stories that De Laurentiis had film rights to, Quitters, Inc. and The L; Editorge, lighting the fuse for the ultimate bomb.

The three stories just don’t connect and efforts to join them never work. However, an excellent roster of talent does try its best.
